The Association of West African Student Anaesthetists was formed to foster social,economic and political development of student anaesthetists as well as to promote brotherly love and unity among the student body.

Membership consists of all students of School of Anaesthesiology, University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital Enugu,Enugu state Nigeria.

Honorary members are tutors at the department of anaesthesia.U.N.T.H. Enugu.

The school of anaesthesia Enugu admits 5O students from all over Nigeria and West African sub region every year,after an entrance examination and oral interview.The entrance date is usually April each year.

The student union has a member of staff as student affairs officer who advice the student union executives. The student population is multicultural hence there is community associations .These are the AREWA community headed by the SERIKI,the ODUDUWA community by KABIYESI, the SOUTH-SOUTH community by OBONG and the SOUTH-EAST by IGWE .

These community leaders help in organizing the student .There are community lectures ,community cultural display during the student week each year.

There is the Muslim Student Society of Nigeria with a befitting place of worship and the Healthcare CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP with a befitting place of worship also.
